Week 7 Ramblings

Dateline Manila – Always Raining
Team Guys & Gals:
Still trying to get that junk out of my system from the C-Scan, which is making me tired and irritable – but it’s to be expected – so staying indoors most of the time. Heading for the Mall later this morning.  Ashleigh needs new shoes for school. Kids always need something.
While at Glorietta, also decided to have a NEW Christmas. Bought a new tree (white) and all the accessories and decorations to make this a special day come December.  Since Xmas begins early September in the Philippines, figured we still got a real good head start on the big holiday. Lunch at Outback Steak House and now, settled in back home. We also got Lhyn her late birthday present – a new iPad Air from the Apple store. She couldn’t be happier.

The Jets/Pats contest on Friday morning was exciting to a degree, coming down to a blocked FG on the final play, but overall – play was sloppy and dis-orientated with plenty of mistakes to go around. At least New York easily covered the +10 line, but knew my UNDER was toast with only a minute gone in the game, Brady threw a 49 yard TD pass to open up the scoring. Thus, once again, start the week at 1-1.

In a somewhat shocking trade, Seattle booted WR Percy Harvin all the way across the USA to the Jets.  Current reasons were – always being plagued by injuries and cap room. The underlying thoughts – that he was more trouble than he was worth.  Whatever that means but have a good idea?
Now, New York has another controversial player on their hands.
Guess when you get older, you begin thinking more about the past.
When I joined the Toronto Sun as a CFL columnist in 1973, the Tabloid was just getting off the ground and one of its key marketing ideas was called the Page 3 Sunshine Girl.  It featured lovely ladies daily in scantily clad outfits, which sold a lot of papers back in that era. Six years later, was approached by an ex-flame who became one of their photographers at the time – and asked me to be the first ever – Sunshine Boy!  Of course, I wholeheartedly agreed.  Picture attached. Those were the days!

NFL Week 7- Likes/Dislikes:
*The Bengals will have their hands full in Indianapolis (-2.5) and OVER 48.
*Tennessee and the Redskins is a battle of no-hopers.  Forget it.
*Way back when, Miami broke the Bears perfect season. Will take the Dolphins again (+3.5) and the UNDER 49.
*Only (-5) point favorites, my Brownies should cover in Jacksonville.
*The Seahawks (-6.5) visit St. Louis and sure they will take out their frustrations against the Rams from last week’s defeat.
*Carolina (+7) takes on the Pack in Lambeau Field and again are the underdogs. Still going with them to beat the line.
*The Ravens (-6.5) can currently do no wrong and the Football Gods haven’t let up on the Falcons yet. Better defense though as the game goes UNDER 50.
*The Vikings at Buffalo is just too tough to call – anything can happen.
*Advantage – the Saints (+3) are playing indoors, even though it’s an away game in Detroit. Go for it!
*Hopefully, the Chiefs (+4) will keep it close in San Diego. A divisional win is on the line.
*Will watch the Giants/Cowboys game with interest…that’s all!
*The Cardinals stay in the Division lead when they beat Oakland and the game goes UNDER 45
*Unusual to see th 49ers as an underdog but getting (+7) in Denver is weird.  Should be a dandy to watch on SNF.
*Two 500 unexciting teams at 3-3 battle it out on MNF.  What ever happened to Flexi-Scheduling?
